Unter der Herrschaft des Maximalprofits verlieren alle, bis aufeinige wenige. Dabei wurde der Reichtum des Westens von allen erbracht, nicht zuletzt von den Menschen in den Kolonien, aber auch ĂŒberGenerationen von den Arbeitnehmern. Dieser Reichtum steht daher allenzu. Die Migranten zeigen auf, dass den groĂen Gewinnern diese Welt nichtgehört. Chamoiseau beschreibt die vitale Kraft der Migranten, ihre Visionzu leben â "etwas Besseres als den Tod findest du ĂŒberall", wie es imMĂ€rchen heiĂt.Chamoiseaus Essay endet mit einer "ErklĂ€rung der Dichter", die zumWiderstand gegen Intoleranz, Rassismus, Fremdenfeindlichkeit undGleichgĂŒltigkeit gegenĂŒber Anderen aufruft.
