In ein paar Tagen ist sie wieder weg."Damals wurden Familien innerhalb weniger Stunden auseinandergerissen; Menschen, die versuchten, in den Westen zu kommen, erschossen; unzählige verhaftet; Lebensläufe mit Macht verändert...Der Wahnsinn sollte achtundzwanzig Jahre dauern.Es sind bereits über zwanzig Jahre vergangen, seit die Mauer zwischen Ost- und Westdeutschland gefallen ist.Weil ich befürchtete, dass sich vielleicht bald niemand mehr an die Tage des Mauerbaues und des Mauerfalls erinnern würde, habe ich dieses Buch geschrieben. Bei meinen Gesprächen dafür stellte ich jedoch fest, dass der 13. August 1961 und der 9. November 1989 im Gedächtnis sehr vieler Menschen unauslöschlich sind.Die bewegende persönlichen Erlebnisberichte der unterschiedlichsten Zeitzeugen aus Ost und West (wie z.B. Regine Hildebrandt, Jo Brauner, Angelika Unterlauf, Götz Friedrich, Herbert Otto, Dagmar Berghoff, Manfred Stolpe oder Arno Surminski) vermitteln vielleicht mehr Geschichte als manches Geschichtsbuch es könnte.
