About this book

Anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums der Konferenz für Umwelt und Entwicklung in Rio de Janeiro (1992) startete das Bundesministerium für Wissenschaft und Forschung (BMWF) 2012 die Initiative "Rio+20 - Wissenschaftler/innen und Jugendliche ziehen Bilanz". Über 100 Jugendliche konnten sich im Rahmen eines vierwöchigen Praktikums im Sommer ein Bild von der österreichischen Nachhaltigkeitsforschung an einer Universität oder in einer Forschungseinrichtung machen. Die Jugendlichen erhielten damit die Gelegenheit, die heimische Nachhaltigkeitsforschung direkt kennenzulernen und gemeinsam mit Wissenschaftler/innen an aktuellen Forschungsprojekten zu arbeiten. Am Ende der Praktika formulierten die Jugendlichen ausgehend von den Forschungsergebnissen Visionen und Wünsche an die Zukunft. Eine Jury aus nationalen und internationalen Nachhaltigkeitsexpert/innen ermittelte aus den über 60 entstandenen Beiträgen die 25 besten, die die OeAD-GmbH als Koordinatorin der Initiative nun in dieser vorliegenden Publikation herausgibt.
