In ihrem Salon in Berlin wĂ€hrend der Besatzungszeit und spĂ€ter auf ihrem Sommerwohnsitz in St. Wolfgang waren zahlreiche Protagonisten der literarischen Szene zu Gast. Hilde Spiel nannte sie - eine Wendung von Elias Canetti aufnehmend - eine dampfende "NamenskĂŒche". Als vielgereister Journalistin, u.a. der Frankfurter Allgemeinen Zeitung, war es Spiel wichtig, Anschluss an eine "literarische Weltfamilie" zu finden. Ihr rastloses Unterwegssein bot ihr viele Gelegenheiten, als Förderin und Networkerin zu wirken.
