Aus zahlreichen Einsendungen wurden nun die besten Gartentipps ausgewählt und von Karl Ploberger kommentiert. Die Auswahlkriterien waren dabei unterschiedlich, von sehr prägnanten praktischen Tipps bis hin zu völlig unkonventionellen Vorgehensweisen. Die Tipps wurden nach den Kapiteln Grundlagen für den Start, Gemüse und Kräuter, Obst, Schädlinge und Krankheiten sortiert. Zu manchen Themen ergaben sich aufgrund der Menge an Tipps klare Schwerpunkte. Während Schnittlauch z.B. das beliebteste Küchenkraut ist, rangieren beim Gemüse ungebrochen Tomaten an erster Stelle und seit jeher empören und plagen schädliche Schnecken die meisten Gartenbesitzerinnen und Gartenbesitzer. Nicht immer ist Karl Ploberger dabei einer Meinung mit seinen gärtnernden Fans und es entsteht ab und an eine kleine Diskussion. Aber genau diese "Gespräche" auf Papier sind es, die das Buch zu einem launigen Werk werden lassen.
