Im Juni 1993, vor zwanzig Jahren, wurden der erste Richter und die erste Staatsanwältin aus der DDR wegen Rechtsbeugung verurteilt, zu diesem Verfahren wurde Günther Sarge als Zeuge vernommen. Von den etwa 85000 Ermittlungsverfahren gegen DDR-Bürger betrafen rund 50000 angebliches Justizunrecht. Juristen bildeten somit die größte Berufsgruppe, gegen die nach der Vereinigung vorgegangen wurde. Am Ende wurden rund 150 von ihnen verurteilt. In seiner Autobiografie berichtet Günther Sarge als einst höchster Militärrichter und schließlich Präsident des Obersten Gerichts über seinen Lebensweg, insbesondere aber über seine Erfahrungen mit der westdeutschen Justiz.
