Dass Bill Mitchell an den derzeit herrschenden wirtschaftspolitischen Verhältnissen in Europa kein gutes Haar lässt, mag man als Europäer bedauern, ist man intellektuell ehrlich, muss man ihm aber weitgehend zustimmen.Bill Mitchell leistet mit seinem Buch einen großartigen Beitrag dazu, in Europa die einseitige Diskussion und die einseitige Politik zu beenden. Ganz besonders wichtig ist aber die deutsche Ausgabe, weil hierzulande die Diskussion noch viel steriler verläuft als in den übrigen Ländern. Deutschland fühlt sich im Recht, weil es erfolgreich ist. Doch der Erfolg alleine ist sowohl in den zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen als auch in den Beziehungen zwischen Nationen ein schlechter Indikator für vernünftiges Verhalten. Nur wer hinter die Kulissen schaut, die Vorgänge versteht und für dieses Verstehen einen angemessenen theoretischen Rahmen hat, sollte über Recht und Unrecht urteilen. Bill Mitchell verfügt über all diese Fähigkeiten, weswegen sein Buch hoffentlich bald zum Standardrepertoire des Faches gehört.Heiner Flassbeck
