Bei der Gestaltung von kirchlichen Trauerfeiern wird immer öfter auf populäre Musik zurückgegriffen. Die Wünsche von Angehörigen entsprechen dabei nicht immer den Vorstellungen der SeelsorgerInnen. Blume untersucht Art, Häufigkeit und Begründung entsprechender Wünsche und legt die Bewertung und den Umgang durch die Pfarrerinnen und Pfarrer dar. Daneben beschreibt sie aus der Perspektive der Angehörigen die Hintergründe und das Erleben dieser Lieder. Darauf aufbauend werden deren Funktionen im Bestattungsritual wie etwa deren Beitrag zur Trauerbewältigung bestimmt. Abschließend bringt Blume beide Perspektiven miteinander ins Gespräch, um daraus Konsequenzen für die pastorale Praxis zu ziehen.
