Ziel des orthogeriatrischen Co-Managements ist es, die körperliche Funktionalität der Patienten nach Fraktur zu verbessern und deren Mortalität und Zahl an Heimeinweisungen zu senken. Das Weißbuch führt die wichtigsten Schritte einer guten Versorgung von älteren Frakturpatienten auf und enthält von der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Unfallchirurgie und der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Geriatrie konsentierte nationale Behandlungsempfehlungen.

Ausblick

Das Weißbuch Alterstraumatologie ist das Ergebnis intraprofessioneller und interdisziplinärer Zusammenarbeit. Neben der Geriatrie und Unfallchirurgie waren Anästhesisten, Gerontopsychiater, Neurologen, Physiotherapeuten, Sportwissenschaftler, Epidemiologen, Gesundheitsökonomen, Ernährungswissenschaftler, Hämostaseologen und Psychologen an der Erarbeitung der ersten Auflage beteiligt. Die Herausgeber und Autoren beginnen mit der Fertigstellung der ersten Ausgabe die Arbeiten an der zweiten Ausgabe. Spätestens in der zweiten Jahreshälfte 2018 werden die mit Spannung erwarteten Ergebnisse der Evaluation der ersten Kliniken vorgestellt, die in Deutschland ein unfallchirurgisch-geriatrisches Ko-Management eingeführt haben.
