Das Arbeitsbuch zur Fachdidaktik Philosophie/Ethik zeigt verschiedene Wege auf, wie angehende LehrerInnen im Studium, Schulpraktikum, Referendariat und im Beruf ihr Fach mit Blick auf Lehre und Vermittlung erfassen, organisieren und reflektieren können. Im Sinne einer "immanenten Philosophiedidaktik" soll die fachlich-philosophische Kompetenz mit Blick auf das Unterrichten strukturiert und weiterentwickelt werden: Konkrete Hinweise zur Organisation des Studiums mit Blick auf ein erfolgreiches Referendariat, zu philosophischen Lektürestrategien und zur Textarbeit sowie zum Erstellen von Hausarbeiten und Unterrichtsentwürfen werden durch Reflexionsangebote des eigenen Faches und zur Rolle der Fachdidaktik ergänzt. Eine kommentierte Bibliographie liefert Einschätzungen neuerer fachdidaktischer Werke und Textsammlungen für Studium und Unterricht. Besonders hilfreich für die Vorbereitung von Unterrichtsentwürfen und Sachanalysen ist jedoch das ausführliche Glossar von philosophischen Begriffen, Themen und Disziplinen im zweiten Teil des Arbeitsbuches: Die fachlich fundierten Artikel erläutern Begriffe ausgehend von ihrer Lehrplan-Relevanz, möglichen Schülerfragen und häufigen Missverständnissen (z.B. Ethik, Macht, kategorischer Imperativ). Konkrete Hinweise zur Textauswahl und zur Aufbereitung eines Themas helfen ganz direkt bei der Strukturierung und Planung von Unterricht. Leitend ist dabei insgesamt die Idee, dass fachliche Souveränität und philosophische Denkerfahrung genauso unabdingbare Grundlage für das Lehramt sind, wie die Reflexion eigener Bildungsprozesse im Studium.Für den Titel erhielt der Autor 2016 den Athene-Hauptpreis für für Gute Lehre der Carlo und Karin Giersch-Stiftung an der TU Darmstadt.
