Eine junge Frau ist auf der Flucht. Die Lebensumstände im Königreich sind für sie nicht mehr länger erträglich, es gibt Zensur, Willkür, Repression. Der junge Mann, den sie in den Wäldern trifft, hat sein Heimatdorf schon vor längerem verlassen und hält sich seitdem versteckt. Allen Gefahren zum Trotz ziehen sie gemeinsam los, um die Grenze zu erreichen. Vorsichtig versucht der junge Mann, seiner Begleiterin dabei näherzukommen, sie bleibt verschlossen, wild und ungestüm. Die Flucht jedoch gelingt, sie überqueren die Grenze und gelangen in die Stadt Port Robinson. Doch der Einfluss des Königs reicht auch bis dorthin und als die junge Frau als Königstochter erkannt wird, wird sie verhaftet und gefoltert. Aber es gibt auch revolutionäre Kräfte in der Stadt, der Aufstand gegen den König ist nicht mehr aufzuhalten …In einer ungewöhnlichen Mischung aus märchenhaften und surrealen Elementen und einer immer wieder von Alltagseinsprengseln durchsetzten Sprache erschafft Mario Wurmitzer in seinem Debütroman "Im Inneren des Klaviers" eine aktuelle und formal mutige Parabel über politische Wirren und Macht, aber auch über Widerstand, Privatheit und Intimität.
