Der Ă€lteste Frauenkonvent im Elbe-Weser-Gebiet - eine Fundgrube zur Klostergeschichte des Mittelalters.Das Kloster Zeven ist hervorgegangen aus dem vermutlich um 960 an der Oste gegrĂŒndeten Kanonissenstift Heeslingen. Mitte des 12. Jahrhunderts als Benediktinerinnenabtei nach Zeven verlegt, kann der Konvent als Ă€ltester im Elbe-Weser-Gebiet gelten. Im SpĂ€tmittelalter lebten hier bis zu 30 Nonnen, ĂŒberwiegend aus Stade sowie aus den StĂ€dten Bremen und Verden. Der historische Urkundenbestand ist großenteils am Standort Stade des NiedersĂ€chsischen Landesarchivs ĂŒberliefert. Er gibt Auskunft ĂŒber Stiftungen, Rechts- und GrundstĂŒcksgeschĂ€fte und viele weitere Angelegenheiten eines kleineren, aber regional bedeutsamen Klosters.Das Urkundenbuch liefert zuverlĂ€ssige Kurzregesten und Abschriften von insgesamt 283 Urkunden. Die Überlieferung setzt schon bald nach der GrĂŒndung ein und reicht bis zur SĂ€kularisation Mitte des 17. Jahrhunderts. Eingeleitet werden die Texte durch einen geschichtlichen Überblick, Listen der InstitutsvorstĂ€nde, ErlĂ€uterungen zur QuellenĂŒberlieferung sowie editorische Hinweise. Durch ausfĂŒhrliche Register wird das Urkundenbuch erschlossen. Im Anhang finden sich Abbildungen von Siegeln und Notariatssigneten.
