Si riaffacciano insieme al tema delle identità etniche, religiose e nazionali, abilmente strumentalizzate dagli interessi politici.
Per capire il mondo globale post 1989, come pure il nuovo disordine internazionale e il sistema di alleanze post-globalizzazione, la geopolitica è un metodo imprescindibile, influenzato, come in effetti è, dalle culture e dalle ideologie dei vari Stati e da come le differenti culture si vedono nel mondo.
