L'idea che lo anima è quella di provare a presentare la filosofia kantiana non come un porto sicuro, nel quale trovare un approdo tranquillo o, peggio, come un relitto del passato, ma come un'avventura del pensiero, un pensiero ancora vivo, vivo anche perché fa riflettere. È innegabile che Kant abbia segnato una svolta fondamentale nella storia del pensiero, ma questo non vuol dire che dobbiamo farne un monumento, tutt'altro, e neppure che dobbiamo accettare in blocco le sue soluzioni; perché, come dice giustamente Wilhelm Windelband, capire Kant vuol dire andare oltre Kant. Però bisogna fare la fatica di capirlo e di studiarlo a fondo. Se la lettura di questo testo facesse sorgere il desiderio di leggere direttamente le opere di Kant, avrebbe ottenuto pienamente il suo scopo.
