Il valore simbolico del fondamento dell'educare, della procreazione e della generatività ci consente invece di restituire dignità al sentimento dell'esperienza e alla sensibilità. La Paideia occidentale, fondata dai greci sulla forza di un modello competitivo di vita e sulla tensione tra i corpi e le idee, nella cultura moderna si è dematerializzata in un'ambizione di conoscenza che ha assolutizzato il soggetto pensante ma ha reso anonimo e manipolabile il soggetto senziente. Le nuove scienze mostrano l'artificialità della scissione tra pensiero e vita, tra corpo e mente, e la storia delle idee rivela che la bellezza e la morale hanno una radice comune nella percezione di esistere che l'uomo pone alla base di ogni giudizio e di ogni scelta. L'est-etica dell'educare è assenso al creato e alla vita e resiste a tutte le pretese di fissare una forma perfetta di umanità e un unico modello di educazione.
