La riflessione Ăš orientata sia ai fondamenti teorici della distinzione formale tra il registro narrativo e quello propriamente lirico, sia alla natura degli sconfinamenti – occasionali o con derive autonome e modellizzanti – che hanno determinato, soprattutto nel corso del Novecento e oltre: liricizzazioni della prosa nel romanzo e nella forma breve; l'evolversi di generi ibridi come il poĂšme-en-prose, in Francia e altrove; la presenza, ancora in molta poesia contemporanea, di moduli prosastici e narrativi in strutture liriche tradizionali.
