Il profilo tossicologico dei FANS suggerisce di adottare la dose più bassa che risulti efficace e di limitare per quanto possibile la durata del trattamento. Nella scelta del tipo di FANS occorre tenere presente sia le caratteristiche individuali del soggetto in terapia sia l’emivita del farmaco. Maggiore è l’emivita, minore è la necessità di ripetere la somministrazione nella giornata.
Il profilo tossicologico dei FANS suggerisce di adottare la dose più bassa che risulti efficace e di limitare per quanto possibile la durata del trattamento: questo secondo aspetto è quello più critico soprattutto in caso di malattie croniche come le patologie osteoartrosiche e l’artrite reumatoide che prevedono assunzioni prolungate della terapia. La somministrazione intramuscolare è dolorosa, ha gli stessi effetti avversi a livello gastrico della somministrazione per bocca ed è a più alto rischio di sovradosaggio e di complicanze renali.
Nella tabella 4 sono riportati i dosaggi consigliati e l’emivita dei principali farmaci antinfiammatori non steroidei.1,2 Per emivita si intende il tempo necessario a una sostanza per dimezzare la sua concentrazione plasmatica. Maggiore è l’emivita, minore è la necessità di ripetere la somministrazione nella giornata.
