El primer nĆŗmero de la revista se publicĆ³ en 1990 en el marco de la serie Studi di letteratura Ispanoamericana dirigida por el Prof. Giuseppe Bellini de la UniversitĆ  degli Studi di Milano. Desde el fasciculo n.9/2000 se convirtiĆ³ en revista del Departamento de Ciencias LingĆ¼Ć­sticas de la UniversitĆ  Cattolica del Sacro Cuore bajo la direcciĆ³n del Prof. Dante Liano, CatedrĆ”tico de Lengua y Literatura Hispanoamericana de dicha universidad.
La temĆ”tica de Ā«CentroamericanaĀ» se centra en problemas lingĆ¼Ć­sticos, literarios y culturales de los paĆ­ses de CentroamĆ©rica y de las Antillas. Se publica en dos fascĆ­culos anuales.
Desde el duodĆ©cimo volumen la revista se publica a travĆ©s del Servizio Editoriale de EDUCatt ā€“ Ente per il diritto allo studio dell'UniversitĆ  Cattolica.

Il giardino modernista di cui parliamo ĆØ molto diverso dalla mitica valle dove vivevano le muse della mitologia greca: lā€™Arcadia. Questa ĆØ una natura amena non creata dallā€™uomo, il giardino invece ĆØ sempre una costruzione umana. Bisogna inoltre ricordare che il modernismo creĆ² numerosi locus amoenus: giardini, lā€™isola dei centauri, palazzi sontuosamente arredati, libri impreziositi da decorazioni, torri dā€™avorio, ecc.

Creature nate nei giardini furono Peter Pan che viveva nei giardini di Kensingthon a Londra (James M. Barrie, Peter Pan, 1912) ed il vampiro Dracula che viveva nei giardini senza tempo che sono i cimiteri (Bram Stoker, Dracula, 1897). Una riflessione sulle profonde analogie fra le due figure dellā€™immaginario anglosassone, cfr. N.
