Lì hanno discusso programmi editoriali Primo Levi, Norberto Bobbio, Franco Venturi, Gianfranco Contini, per citare solo alcuni dei grandi nomi che hanno frequentato gli uffici di via Biancamano.Luca Baranelli e Francesco Ciafaloni – due semplici redattori tra gli anni '60 e gli anni '80 – sono stati testimoni di quelle vicende e amici di alcuni dei protagonisti. In queste pagine rievocano due decenni di storia della casa editrice e alcuni dei momenti più drammatici: dal «caso Fofi» che spaccò in due la casa editrice nel 1963, alla crisi del 1983 che portò l'Einaudi all'amministrazione straordinaria e al fallimento di quel grandioso progetto. Una lunga conversazione con Alberto Saibene approfondisce aspetti finora trascurati delle vicende einaudiane: il funzionamento della macchina editoriale, la posizione politica della casa editrice negli anni a cavallo del '68, l'istinto editoriale unito all'arte del comando di Giulio Einaudi.Una ricca iconografia, perlopiù inedita, completa il volume.
