Nach einer langen Phase weitgehender VollbeschĂ€ftigung setzte Mitte der 1970er Jahre in der Bundesrepublik wie in vielen anderen westlichen Staaten eine unerwartete Massenarbeitslosigkeit ein. Besonderes Aufsehen in Politik und Öffentlichkeit erregte die damit verbundene Jugendarbeitslosigkeit. Die ungewohnten Krisenerscheinungen des Arbeitsmarktes fĂŒr Jugendliche, die im internationalen Vergleich freilich auf relativ moderatem Niveau blieben, wurden nach und nach zu einem Dauerzustand. Thomas Raithel untersucht erstmals aus zeithistorischer Perspektive die Entwicklung der bundesdeutschen Jugendarbeitslosigkeit wĂ€hrend der 1970er und 1980er Jahre und analysiert ihre Wahrnehmung und BekĂ€mpfung.
