König Heinrich IV. stĂŒtzte sich dabei auf hochqualifizierte Gesandte und Berichterstatter. Jacques Bongars (1554?1612) war einer dieser Diplomaten. Er war Diener der Krone, zugleich Gelehrter und Humanist. Dank seiner Ausbildung, seiner Reisen und Korrespondenzen unterhielt er Beziehungen in viele LĂ€nder Europas. Die Untersuchung verbindet die Biographie des Gesandten mit dessen intellektuellem Wirken und kosmopolitischem Hintergrund.
