Die Arbeit widmet sich erstmals umfassend der deutschsprachigen mystischen Lyrik des 14. und 15. Jahrhunderts. FĂŒr die Untersuchung wird ein ĂŒberlieferungsgeschichtlicher Zugang gewĂ€hlt, um das Korpus von ĂŒber hundert Liedern vorzustellen. Die Handschriften fĂŒhren an die Orte, wo die Lieder ihren "Sitz im Leben" hatten. Vor allem Klöster des deutschsprachigen SĂŒdwestens, die fĂŒr die Tradierung der Texte Meister Eckharts oder Heinrich Seuses als auch fĂŒr Produktion und Rezeption der SchwesternbĂŒcher bekannt sind, erweisen sich fĂŒr die mystische Lyrik als Zentren der Überlieferung. DarĂŒber hinaus zeigen die Handschriften die verschiedenen Überlieferungsformen mystischer Lyrik, die vom Einzeltext als Teil einer Kompilation bis zur Liedersammlung reichen. Wandernde Verse und Strophen und andere Arten der Varianz verweisen auf die besondere Unfestigkeit der Texte. Inhaltlich stehen die Lieder im Spannungsfeld von spekulativer Mystik und visionĂ€rer Christusmystik. Mit dem Abdruck der bislang unveröffentlichten Texte und einem ausfĂŒhrlichen Repertorium, das als Nachschlagewerk Auskunft ĂŒber die handschriftliche Überlieferung, ĂŒber Form und Inhalt, Editionen und SekundĂ€rliteratur gibt, wird die das mystische Lied als neues Forschungsfeld erschlossen.
