Diese Arbeit stellt korpusbasierte Studien zum Phänomenbereich 'Präposition' vor: Auf Basis des Bochumer Mittelhochdeutschkorpus (1070-1350) wurden erstens der Präpositionenbestand, zweitens die strukturellen Ausprägungen der Präpositionalphrase und drittens die semantisch-funktionale Leistung von Präpositionalphrasen im Satz untersucht. Die Untersuchungen sind im Kontext des Forschungsprojekts 'Mittelhochdeutsche Grammatik' entstanden und wenden die dort erarbeiteten Forschungsgrundlagen auf den Gegenstand 'Präposition' an: aus der Arbeit mit den Daten des Bochumer Mittelhochdeutschkorpus wird eine möglichst genaue, nach Sprach- und Zeiträumen differenzierte Darstellung der im Korpus zu beobachtenden sprachlichen Ausprägungen gewonnen. Da größtmögliche Beschreibungsadäquatheit angestrebt wird, ist eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Sprachdaten auf der einen und mit den in der Theorie gewonnenen Modellen auf der anderen Seite nötig, und es müssen (neue) Beschreibungsmodi gefunden werden. Damit füllt diese Arbeit mit der Aufarbeitung des Themenfeldes 'Präpositionen im Mittelhochdeutschen' nicht nur eine Forschungslücke, sondern stellt auch eigene, aus der empirischen Arbeit heraus gewonnene Herangehensweisen an das Themenfeld zur Diskussion.
