Nato per volontà del fascismo negli anni '30, è stato svaligiato dai nazisti durante la guerra, ha vissuto gli anni del dopoguerra e del boom, è stato protagonista della stagione fervente e caotica del '68, ha condiviso tutte le crisi e tutte le rinascite del nostro cinema e della nostra società . E in questo XXI secolo, nel quale il cinema è "circondato" da nuovi media e nuove tecniche ma continua eroicamente a voler essere protagonista, accompagna la trasformazione del cinema stesso in qualche cosa che ancora non conosciamo, ma che sarà entusiasmante conoscere.
