Die Digitalisierung hat in den vergangenen Jahren eine Revolution in der Arbeitswelt mit sich gebracht – kein Lebensbereich, der nicht in irgendeiner Form von dieser Wandlung betroffen war. Von analog zu digital vollzog sich auch ein rasanter Wandel im Bereich der Foto- und Videografie. Aber nicht nur die Digitalisierung spielte hier eine Rolle, auch die Perspektive des Fotografierens sollte sich erweitern. Unter dem Motto "neue Horizonte, neue Perspektiven" erfahren sogenannte Fotocopter eine rasante Entwicklung weltweit. Allein in Deutschland wird die Zahl der fernbedienten Fluggeräte auf rund 500.000 geschätzt. Früher mussten Luftaufnahmen aufwendig aus einem Flugzeug oder mithilfe mobiler Teleskopstative etc. gemacht werden. Die Zeiten ändern sich – rapide! Vor Jahren noch waren Luftbilder Hunderte Euros wert. Ein Bild vom Eigenheim aus der Vogelperspektive wurde teuer bezahlt und goldfarben eingerahmt. Dafür mussten in der Regel eigens ein Pilot und ein Fotograf ins Flugzeug steigen und gemeinsam abheben. Doch diese Exklusivität aufgrund des hohen Aufwands ist vorbei. Die Fotocopter übernehmen, der Mensch bleibt am Boden. Diese Art von Fluggeräten findet sich mittlerweile selbst im Sortiment von Drogeriemärkten. Copter für jedermann? Wer weiß, wo uns das noch hinführenwird. Momentan zu vielen tollen Luftbildbänden und ebensolchen Videos auf YouTube, für die keine Cessna mehr vom Boden abheben muss.Heutzutage heißt es binnen weniger Minuten "ready for take-off". Dann hebt der Multicopter ab, bestückt mit hochwertigem Kameraequipment – Kameras, die hochauflösende Fotos, 4K-Filme oder Multispektral- beziehungsweise Wärmebilder aufzeichnen können. Die Qualität der Bilder kann oftmals schon direkt nach der Aufnahme während des Flugs mithilfe der Bodenstation kontrolliert werden, damit man sie gegebenenfalls gleich noch einmal wiederholen kann.
