Die Reihe versteht sich als Forum für linguistische Arbeiten, die sich auf die Frage richten, wie durch Sprache - unter Einschluss ihrer Interaktion mit anderen semiotischen Systemen - Bedeutungen in sozialen Strukturen, textuellen Umgebungen, Räumen, Stilen und Interaktionen produziert und reproduziert werden. Diskursive Ereignisse werden dabei als Positionen von Aussagen verstanden, die mit repetitiven Mustern korrelieren. Akteurs- und Aussagepositionen einerseits sowie konventi-onalisierte Sprachmuster und Sprachvariation andererseits determinieren, generieren und reflektieren in einem komplexen Geflecht von diskursiver Praxis, Stimmen und Machtverhältnissen historisch variable Konzepte sozialer Wirklichkeit. Thematisch umfasst die Reihe linguistische Arbeiten zu Kontext, Sprachgebrauch und Prozessen der sprachlichen Positionierung von Akteuren in verschiedenen Sprachräumen und in unterschiedlichen sozialen, kulturellen, ästhetischen sowie historischen Zusammenhängen.

Die Reihe ist in mehrfacher Hinsicht integrativ und überschreitet innerdisziplinäre Grenzziehungen. Publiziert werden linguistische Monographien und Sammelbände in deutscher oder englischer Sprache zu grammatischen, wissensorientierten, soziolinguistischen und stilistischen Ansätzen der Diskurslinguistik und Korpuslinguistik, die mono- oder multimodale Analysen mit quantitativen und qualitativen Verfahren dokumentieren. Alle Beiträge werden peer-reviewed.
