Filadelfo Castro (1884-1963), lentinese, socialdemocratico. Dal socialismo turatiano al riformismo bissolatiano, al classismo rivoluzionario nel primo dopoguerra, alla socialdemocrazia saragattiana nel secondo: egli percorse tutto il grande fiume del socialismo italiano, ma senza mai varcarne i confini.
Fu alla testa di un bracciantato agricolo affamato di terra, alla conquista dei grandi feudi, fu protagonista nella costruzione di un imponente movimento socialista nel lentinese. Conobbe Maria Giudice e Giacinto Menotti Serrati, esaltò Lenin, ma finí anticomunista.
Fu, soprattutto, tre volte sindaco della sua Città, stimato per il suo generoso attivismo e per la sua assolutà onestà.
È stato l'unico a guidare il suo movimento alla conquista del Comune poco prima dell'avvento del fascismo e subito dopo la sua caduta, come se il Ventennio fosse stato solo una parentesi fra due vittorie.
È stato un grande protagonista della storia lentinese e siciliana. Ferdinando Leonzio è stato il primo a ricostruirne la biografia politica.
