«Sono ormai due anni che non lavoro più come dipendente; questa condizione dovrebbe rendermi più libero nella ricerca di nuovi contratti, ma il problema è complesso: da alcuni mesi il mercato dell'automazione è pressoché fermo. Spiego tutte queste cose a Victoria, le ho fatto il quadro completo della situazione ma la rassicuro: "Non starò con le mani in mano. Da stasera comincio a inviare curriculum a raffica. In Italia, in Europa, soprattutto in Germania". Sono passati diversi giorni da allora, e continuo a passare le notti a mandare e-mail. Ne avrò mandate alcune centinaia, ma l'iniziativa non ha ancora sortito effetti. Solo qualche risposta, e nelle diverse lingue, della serie: "La ringraziamo, terremo conto della sua candidatura, se avremo necessità la contatteremo". Ma a me è venuta un'idea. Un azzardo. E se invece di propormi come consulente professionale mi presentassi come titolare di un'azienda di servizi? Magari mi prendono sul serio. Già, però, io un'azienda non ce l'ho… Sì, però posso inventarmela… Mi ha telefonato il responsabile tecnico di una società che in Germania lavora a supporto di grandi case automobilistiche: "Mr. Mangano, abbiamo ricevuto la presentazione della sua azienda, siamo interessati alla vostra proposta. Vorremmo fare due chiacchiere con lei e il suo staff…". Da questo azzardo prende slancio la storia della torinese Manganorobot e dei suoi protagonisti».
