This final volume includes "Confusion of Tongues Between Children and Adults" in which Ferenczi formulates his controversal ideas on childhood sexuality, and the conflict between the languages of tenderness and passion. First published in 1955, this book contains papers written by Ferenczi during his last years and some of his unpublished notes. It demonstrates Ferenczi's combination of great clinical understanding and an almost uncanny insight into unconscious process. Among the forty important items included are papers on the following: "Freud's Influence on Medicine", "Laughter", "Epileptic Fits", "Dirigible Dreams", "Philosophy and Psycho-Analysis", "Paranoia", "The Interpretation of Tunes Which Come into One's Head" and "The Genesis of Jus Primae Noctis".

5. Dashes have been substituted for headings in the case of compound terms or to avoid possible misunderstandings.

6. Roman figures and capital letters refer to volumes, Arabic figures to pagination within a volume.

7. Arabic figures in italics refer to:

(a) starting page of a chapter or section in which the subject is dealt with,

(b) passages which contain basically informative or original material about the subject.

8. Adverbs and conjunctions have been disregarded in the alphabetical order.

9. Sub-headings are arranged in alphabetical order, except for definitions which precede them.

10. No discrimination is made whether or not the term referred to appears in the main text, in a whole chapter or in a footnote.

11. Particular applications of a term are generally listed under the term in question, but in a few cases very frequently used compounds have been listed separately.

12. Adjectives, as far as possible, do not appear as separate entries.
