CRC Handbook of Tables for Applied Engineering Science

About this book

New tables in this edition cover lasers, radiation, cryogenics, ultra-sonics, semi-conductors, high-vacuum techniques, eutectic alloys, and organic and inorganic surface coating. Another major addition is expansion of the sections on engineering materials and compos-ites, with detailed indexing by name, class and usage. The special Index of Properties allows ready comparisons with respect to single property, whether physical, chemical, electrical, radiant, mechani-cal, or thermal. The user of this book is assisted by a comprehensive index, by cross references and by numerically keyed subject headings at the top of each page. Each table is self-explanatory, with units, abbreviations, and symbols clearly defined and tabular material subdivided for easy reading.

INDEX OF PROPERTIES
In listing the properties of engineering materials in this handbook, an effort has been made to show all the important properties of a single material in the same table. The materials that are useful for a variety of purposes are listed in Section 1. Each is classified according to its usual physical state, as a gas, liquid, or solid.
The chemical elements and many chemical compounds appear in Section 3. Certain materials for distinctive uses, e.g., fuels, solvents, nuclides, and magnetic materials, are treated in that section of the handbook that is devoted to the special application.
The following index of properties is provided for quick reference to specific properties. The index items contain the common name of the property and the page location of the tables listing the property in question. Data on a specific material may also be located in the main index.
