Si no se puede revisar el psicoanálisis con las herramientas propias de la ciencia, con las epistemologías y sus criterios de validación, no podrá decirse que se eleve por encima del estatuto de un saber pseudocientífico, religioso y lleno de vericuetos propios de saberes gnósticos, de los saberes para iniciados y constituidos desde cenáculos diferentes a los centros de la ciencia y la universidad. Muchas preguntas se suceden de este hecho: ¿las investigaciones que se adelantan en el campo del psicoanálisis son de carácter científico? ¿Existe la posibilidad de que una investigación con el psicoanálisis se llame científica? ¿Se puede trabajar científicamente en psicoanálisis? En fin, podrían hacerse muchas otras preguntas al respecto; empero, de lo que se trata es de saber si el psicoanálisis, como un saber bien constituido, puede o no elevarse a la condición de un programa de investigación científica.
