Este texto trata de la investigación probabilística y exploratoria que con un trabajo de campo buscó establecer los tiempos de duración del proceso en el nuevo sistema, tanto de la actividad de indagación e investigación que realiza la Fiscalía como de la etapa de juzgamiento a cargo de jueces y tribunales. Para el efecto se revisaron inicialmente los trabajos preparatorios realizados por la CEJ y los anuarios estadísticos del Consejo de la Judicatura y la FGN. Los trabajos de campo consistieron en la revisión una a una de las carpetas disponibles en FGN y en los despachos de los jueces, en las ciudades de Bogotá, Bucaramanga, Barranquilla, CaH, Medellín, Pasto y, un proceso micro, en la población cundinamarcuesa de Cajicá.
