I Regni d'Italia e di Prussia, nel decennio compreso tra l'unificazione italiana nel 1861 e la nascita del secondo Reich germanico nel 1871, assunsero un ruolo di particolare rilevanza nella storia dell'Europa nell'Ottocento. La presente monografia, incentrata sull'analisi delle relazioni tra i due Paesi nel periodo considerato, affronta le rispettive scelte di politica estera, i momenti di convergenza o divergenza riguardo ai principali eventi dell'epoca, presi in esame nel contesto dei rapporti bilaterali tra Torino (poi Firenze, infine Roma) e Berlino. Inoltre, lo studio si sofferma anche su quegli aspetti dei rapporti italo-prussiani sinora meno approfonditi, in relazione alla generale situazione internazionale del tempo. Emergono, infine, in queste pagine, l'azione e la personalitĂ di statisti e i diplomatici quali Otto von Bismarck, Karl Hermann von Thile, Harry von ArnimSuchow, Emilio Visconti Venosta, Edoardo de Launay e Giulio Camillo di Barral de Monteauvrard.
