About This Book

Only 25% of the Finnish people agree having a functioning democracy in Finland. This book is revealing how political parties are jeopardizing democracy. Their false way of act is present every day and everywhere, where the parties participate in decision-making. This includes the organs in towns, and The Parliament of Finland. In the book, the trade union action against The Constitution of Finland is also revealed. The book gives suggestions how to improve democracy in Finland. There is still hope not to join the human action in the assumed error.

Information

National Level

Finland is a republic including The President and The Parliament. Both are elected in a democrative way, The President every sixth year, and The Parliament every fourth year. The Parliament has 200 members in one cabinet and The Government that leads the legistlation process and implementation of matters. During the years, the power of The President has been reduced in order to give more power to The Parliament. The Government with ministers, at the moment 15 of them, is formed by the winning party of the election. The formulation of The Government as it, refers to the power-play of the parties. There is a tendency to form A Government that has a major rule. At the moment, there are eight parties presented in The Parliament. The formulation of the major rule government, is a puzzle including giving and geting promises. This power-play of the parties, ties hands and is ending in compromizes, which is something mediocre.
The power-play of the parties is disgracing democracy. The Parlament's common voting result, the members of The Government parties 'for' and the members of the opposition parties 'against', is not democracy. Then, the real view of the members of The Parliament is not known. It is quite possible that, the majority view does not win. This is against democracy. It is against The Constitution of Finland.
The important matters have a mode of 'a free choice' in voting. Then the member's own opinion is accepted. In those cases, the member does not have to follow any decision of The Parliament group of the party. During the last parlamential year 2014/2015, there were two important matters in The Parliament. Thus, two times the members of The Parliament voted according to their own will. Assumedly, according to the will of the citicent of Finland, whom they are representing for in The Parliament. At the same time, this means that, the hundreds of other matters were 'not important'. It is quite possible that, the result of those matters did not follow the major opinion of the members of The Parliament. If the minority opinion wins, it is not democracy. The question lies, what are the members of The Parliament doing there for four years? How could we prevail democracy?
What were 'the important matters' in The Parliament of Finland last year? The first important matter was a permission to build a new nuclear power plant in Pyhajoki in the Western Finland. The second important matter covered equal rights, undependent of sex in the relation of human couples. These two matters were handled in a democrative way. In these cases, the members of The Parliament had a free choice to vote.
According to the minutes of The Parliament meeting of the 18th of September 2014, the desicion on the nuclear power plant in Pyhajoki, The Parliament case number M 6/2014 vp, included 115 votes 'for', 77 votes 'against', 4 'plain', 6 'absent', total 199 votes. The chairman, who is one of The Parliament members does not vote.
The following table shows the voting of the members of The Parliament by the party group. In this 'free choice' voting, the views and the votes diversify. There are both votes 'for' and 'against' almost in all party groups.

The Parliament Party Group For Against Plain Absent Total
National Coalition Party Group 40 3 0 1 44
