Wie wirkt sich Seelsorge aus - auf ihre Adressat_innen, auf ihre Anbieter_innen und auf die Kirche? Und was ist es, das wirkt? Das hat diese empirische Evaluationsstudie quantitativ und qualitativ erhoben. In vier Seelsorge-Modellprojekten der EKD wurden Zielgruppen angesprochen, die kirchliche Arbeit sonst wenig erreicht, und hohe und breite Wirkungsgrade bei allen Beteiligten erzielt: Bei Adressat_innen ein Anstieg an LebensqualitĂ€t und Lebensvergewisserung; bei den Seelsorger_innen ZuwĂ€chse an beruflicher Kompetenz, Zufriedenheit und SinnerfĂŒllung; bei anderen Berufsgruppen und Hilfeagenturen eine gesteigerte WertschĂ€tzung fĂŒr kirchliche und pastorale Kompetenzen. Ausschlaggebende Wirkfaktoren waren vor allem die QualitĂ€t der seelsorglichen Beziehungsgestaltung, genaues Zuhören und Verstehen und die Symbol- und Ritualkompetenz der Seelsorger_innen. FĂŒr die Kirche ist die Seelsorge offenbar in erstaunlich hohem MaĂe auch zur missionarischen Gelegenheit geworden - umso mehr, je weniger sie mit missionarischer Absicht auftrat.
