I INTRODUCTION

Adaptive control is an effective way of controlling unknown dynamical systems. The several decades history of adaptive control ideas has been amply documented in various surveys and books including [1] - [5]. A significant milestone in the stability analysis of adaptive control loops was reached in 1980 with the publication of several proofs that under certain conditions the closed loop system is globally bounded input bounded output stable and asymptotic tracking can be achieved [6] - [8].
