This book provides an introduction to the concepts of statistical measurement methods. Organized into nine chapters, this book begins with an overview of the applications of automatic control systems that pervade almost every area of activity ranging from servomechanisms to electrical power distribution networks. This text then discusses the common measurement transducer functions. Other chapters consider the basic waveforms that enable the experimenter to excite the system under test with relatively simple apparatus. This book discusses as well the military and economic significance of control systems. The final chapter deals with a significant class of systems, particularly in the aerospace and communication fields, in which the useful information or command signal to the system is heavily contaminated with noise. This book is a valuable resource for final year degree or postgraduate students.
