About this book
William Carden is Artistic Director of the Herbert Bergdorf Playwrights Foundation and Theatre where he founded the Playwrights Unit in 1995. Productions he has directed at HB Studios include: Mrs. Klein and Collected Stories, both with Uta Hagen, Voir Dire by Joe Sutton, Mall America by Peter Sagal, The Wax by Kathleen Tolan and the 25th Anniversary production of Miguel Pinero's Short Eyes. Last season, he directed the all-star reading of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf with Uta Hagen, Jonathan Pryce, Mia Farrow, and Matthew Broderick at the Majestic Theatre on Broadway. Off-Broadway, he directed James Ryan's The Young Girl and the Monsoon at Playwrights Horizons. As an actor he has played leading roles Off-Broadway at the Manhattan Theatre Club, Circle Rep, WPA, Ensemble Studio Theatre and Phoenix Theatre. On Broadway, he created the title role in Short Eyes. He has been seen in a variety of television shows, the most recent being Law & Order.
