La lingua Hausa appartiene alle lingue ciadiche della famiglia afroasiatica ed è quindi apparentata alle lingue semitiche (arabo, ebraico, aramaico), al berbero, all'egiziano antico, al copto e al cuscitico. Parlata da circa 60 milioni di persone come unica o prima lingua, è diffusa soprattutto nella Nigeria del Nord, nel Niger e nelle numerose comunità hausafone presenti in diversi Paesi africani. Questo manuale è la prima grammatica hausa in lingua italiana ed è frutto di una lunga esperienza di insegnamento e risultato di una meticolosa sistematizzazione di appunti, schemi e materiali forniti durante i corsi.
