SCENE ONE
Friday 5pm. Darkness, a few seconds pass with nothing then ‘Now or Never’ from High School Musical 3 begins playing into the darkness. The first two lines pass then with ‘game on’ DELILAH EVANS, EMMA M, EMMA G and NAOMI are all revealed sitting on the floor in Delilah's bedroom. A phone is in the centre of the group and a CD player behind them. Emma G bored whereas the others are apparently waiting for something in the music.
DELILAH: Okay get ready, get ready
NAOMI: Shut up!
EMMA M: Hang on they do it again
NAOMI: (Counts the others in then …) Now! Now! Now!
EMMA G presses record on the phone, everyone except her starts singing.
EMMA M, NAOMI, and DELILAH: (Sing the first few lines of the first verse of ‘Now or Never’.)
EMMA G: (About the phone.) Wait, wait it's stopped
NAOMI: Why?
EMMA M: What?
NAOMI: Put it on pause
DELILAH leans over and pauses the music, they crowd round the phone.
EMMA G: Only records for a little bit
EMMA M: That's shit
DELILAH: How do you make it playback?
EMMA G: Can we please leave it now?
NAOMI: Let's use mine (Puts her phone in the middle.)
EMMA G: Oh my god you got it!
DELILAH: What?
NAOMI: New blackberry
DELILAH: Really? (The Storm)?
EMMA M: Not now, can we please do the chorus?
DELILAH: Okay (Starts fast forwarding the music.)
EMMA G: Oh my days! Can we stop? Please
NAOMI: Do it with us
EMMA G: (With disgust.) I've never seen High School Musical!
EMMA M: Look at her face
EMMA G: Or like Justin Bieber or Witches of Waverly Place or Hannah Mon-fucking-tana
DELILAH: Okay, okay get ready
The music starts again, they count themselves, singing parts as they wait for the chorus, EMMA G presses record.
EMMA M, DELILAH, NAOMI: (Sing chorus of ‘Now or Never’.)
EMMA M: Stop!
The phone is stopped, they crowd round it excited, someone turns off or down the music.
EMMA G: Do you have to listen to it back?
NAOMI: Sh!
They listen to their recording.
EMMA M: It's so cool!
NAOMI: That's going to be my ringtone
EMMA M: Send it to me. Go on Bluetooth
EMMA G: Please do that later
EMMA M: Two seconds, God!
EMMA G: (Changing subject.) Delilah what's happening Sunday then?
DELILAH: Come over here first then watch Harry Potter DVDs
NAOMI and EMMA M together: (In a special voice they always use.) Harry Potter!
NAOMI: Harry and Ginny!
EMMA M: What was the last film?
NAOMI: Harry and Ginny
EMMA M: I can't remember what happens
DELILAH: Harry and Ginny get…
NAOMI: Basically Harry finds the potions book by the Half Blood Prince…
EMMA M: Who is the Prince again?
NAOMI: Snape! And Harry and Ginny get together and Ron and Lavender get together and Hermione is sad then there is all the Horcrux stuff and Dumbledore dies
EMMA M: Oh yeah
NAOMI: Oh my God have you seen the new trailer, was on MTV?
EMMA M: No
DELILAH: For Deathly Hallows, was amazing
NAOMI: You've got to see it Emma was so good
DELILAH: With Voldermort
NAOMI: ‘I must be the one to kill Harry Potter’
DELILAH: With the train
NAOMI: With the hand
EMMA M: Have you found me yet?
NAOMI: (About phone.) Are you Princess Cool 125?
