Dieses Buch bildet den zweiten Teil einer wissenschaftlichen Reihe, in der sieben Sprachebenen der Sprache der deutschsprachigen Kanzleien des Spätmittelalters auf dem Gebiet des Ordensstaates und der Nachfolgeländer beschrieben werden. In diesem Teil der Reihe werden morphologische Aspekte angeschnitten, wobei nur die Kategorien des Adjektivs und die Ablautklassen behandelt werden. Diese Bereiche sind wegen der vielen Neuerscheinungen besonders interessant. Die Autoren gehen einerseits auf relikthafte Erscheinungen in den einzelnen Ablautklassen eingegangen ein, andererseits auf die Bildung der zweiten und dritten Ablautreihe im Altthornischen Schöffenbuch. Es konnte nachgewiesen werden, dass der Text einen frühneuhochdeutschen Stand nicht ganz erreicht hat.
