Im Mittelpunkt stehen die Auswirkungen von Krieg, Militär und Besatzung auf die Bevölkerung Brandenburgs: die enormen finanziellen Belastungen, die vielfältigen Leistungen für in Brandenburg stationierte bzw. durchziehende französische, preußische und russische Truppen sowie nicht zuletzt direkte Kriegsschäden, Requisitionen oder Ausschreitungen der Soldateska. Breiten Raum nehmen auch der Aufbau und die Unterstützung von Landwehr und Landsturm bzw. der Freiwilligen Jäger in den Befreiungskriegen 1813–1815 ein.
