Questo volume ripercorre le tappe della penetrazione del pensiero di Hegel in Italia rileggendo il pensiero degli hegeliani di Napoli alla luce del contesto risorgimentale, con particolare attenzione alle connessioni transnazionali e alla circolazione europea delle idee. A partire dal tentativo di riformulare la dimensione europea del Risorgimento, gli autori di questo volume collegano gli studi già esistenti sul movimento dell’hegelismo napoletano con le più ampie tendenze di ricerca nella storia intellettuale a livello continentale.
In particolare, questi contributi mettono in discussione le nozioni di centro e periferia nella comprensione della storia dei flussi intellettuali evidenziando l’originalità delle rielaborazioni locali dei più noti pensatori europei. In questo modo tale volume contribuisce al dibattito che mira a liberare la storiografia risorgimentale da un autoproclamato eccezionalismo ed inserirla nei più ampi flussi storiografici europei.
