En los últimos años, un número importante de pacientes han recibido huesos, piel, válvulas cardíacas, ligamentos, etc. No obstante, a pesar de que España es el país con mayor número de donaciones a nivel mundial, el número de éstas es todavía insuficiente. Con respecto a los tejidos, ocurre algo similar, pues no existen suficientes donaciones como para satisfacer la demanda, y que muchos más pacientes pudieran beneficiarse de tan preciadas donaciones. Por este motivo, es necesario concienciar públicamente a la sociedad para aumentar el número de donaciones. En este sentido, los familiares tienen la oportunidad de donar los tejidos en los casos en los que el fallecido no haya expresado en vida lo contrario. El cuerpo será tratado por médicos ablacionistas y el personal idóneo.
