Hegel in Italia è la ricostruzione di questo periodo per molti versi significativo della storia della cultura filosofica non solo italiana, ma europea. Il libro, diviso in due parti, tratta, nella prima (edita nel 2003 e da tempo esaurita) del 'passaggio' dalla riflessione sulla storia – nella quale la 'lezione' di Marx ha giuocato un ruolo fondamentale – alla costruzione di una 'nuova' Logica, e nella seconda, aggiunta in questa edizione, del complesso, problematico rapporto tra "Fenomenologia" e "Logica". Se al centro della I Parte sono Croce e Gentile, nella II la scena è dominata da Bertrando Spaventa, l'interprete italiano insieme più fedele e più originale di Hegel. L'ultimo capitolo del libro è dedicato a Enzo Paci, figura eminente della filosofia italiana.
