El screnning mamográfico se puede detectar hasta un 30% de los casos. El cáncer puede ser retrasado o interrumpido, pero una vez que se disemina, su cura resulta muy difícil. Solo disponemos de dos vías para atacar el tumor: Su localización precoz y tomar medidas conservadoras. La mamografía es una reproducción, que por medio de una película radiográfica especial, muestra los distintos componentes que forman las mamas, como son: tejido conjuntivo, cuerpos glandulares, grasa y piel. Teniendo en cuenta la diferenciación de densidades que existen entre los mismos. Durante estos últimos tiempos esta técnica ha experimentado una gran evolución. La introducción de los tubos de molibdeno palió casi todos los problemas que padecía este método diagnóstico.
