Arctic Dogs - A Complete Anthology of the Breeds gathers chapters from the rare kennel literature of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, among them J. Sidney Turner's The Kennel Encyclopaedia (1908), Arthur Craven's Dogs of the World (1931) and Walter Hutchinson's Hutchinson's Dog Encyclopaedia (1935). They were written when polar exploration had made the northern breeds famous, and when the show ring was seeing them for the first time.

Points, coats, temperament, working ability in harness and the pedigrees of the celebrated dogs are all set out, with the original photographs reproduced throughout.
