Per tale motivo, di questa molteplicità morfologica che è il corpo, il volume prova piuttosto a ricostruire alcune differenti e spesso dissonanti figure, proponendo, attraverso l'utilizzo dei due grandi modelli del corpo assente e del corpo presente, una breve storia dei suoi propri saperi e poteri. Ne emerge un discorso che mira a liquidare l'idea che esista un solo genere di corpo, per affermare l'esistenza di molti e tanti corpi, la plurivocità dei loro possibili significati, la diversità delle loro nature, trascorse, presenti e a venire.
