La Guerra al Terrorismo, iniziata con l'11 settembre 2001, ha tratto le origini dalla Rivoluzione Islamica in Iran del 1979. Il Medio Oriente degli anni '70 era conteso fra americani e sovietici e ciascuna superpotenza voleva quanto più potere nella regione. L'influenza americana in Iran fu così esasperante per il popolo di quel paese che fu richiesto un cambio drastico ai vertici dell'erede moderno dell'impero persiano: lo scià Reza Pahlavi fu cacciato e prese il potere Ruhollah Khomeini. Il vicino Saddam Hussein, padrone incontrastato dell'Iraq, volle eliminare qualsiasi minaccia di destabilizzazione e fece la guerra all'Iran sia per motivi economici che istigato dalle potenze occidentali. Scoppiò così la Guerra Iran-Iraq che all'epoca era chiamata Guerra del Golfo e questo evento non causò modifiche alla geografia medio orientale ma portò a decenni di tensioni fino alla Guerra al Terrorismo del XXI secolo.

Kenji Albani: nato a Varese il 13 novembre 1990 (è italiano nonostante il nome giapponese). Segnalato al concorso Giulio Perrone Editore nel 2008, ha poi pubblicato una ventina di racconti fra riviste letterarie locali e piattaforme online. Inoltre, ha pubblicato una quindicina di articoli di vario genere (dallo sportivo al culturale, passando per la paleontologia) su siti e riviste specializzati. Al momento studia all'Università degli Studi dell'Insubria di Varese, facoltà scienze della comunicazione, e nel settembre 2018 si è diplomato come sceneggiatore di fumetti alla Scuola del Fumetto di Milano.
