L’ Odissea è il secondo grande poema epico, tradizionalmente attribuito a Omero. Narra delle vicende dell’eroe Ulisse (o Odisseo) dopo la fine della guerra di Troia, narrata nell’ Iliade. Nel corso delle sue “peregrinazioni” Ulisse/Odisseo scende nell’Ade, approda presso i popoli dei Lotofagi e dei Feaci, incontra la bella Nausicaa, la maga Circe, la ninfa Calipso, le ammaliatrici Sirene, il ciclope Polifemo, fino all’agognato ritorno a Itaca dalla moglie Penelope e dal figlio Telemaco. Questa edizione riporta la traduzione del grande letterato Ippolito Pindemonte (1753-1828).
